Derby Diary
Joined CRG: Fall 2005
Debut: I don't know. It feels like I've always been doing this.
Favorite Opponent: Beating Kansas City and Minneapolis at home.
Why I Became Involved: ??? It's Derby! I saw Carolina's debut game, and fell in love with the sport. I started volunteering in the Fall, and became head of stats almost by accident.
Embarrasing Moment: When I had to send an email explaining I'd lost the entire stats bag at a bar during our pre-after-party party. That was before the briefcase with handcuffs, of course.
Favorite Fresh Meat Moment: Any time I got so involved in watching the game that I forgot I was supposed to be tracking it as well.
Favorite Derby Memory: Final jam of the hard fought 2007 home season championship. There was a point discrepency between the other scorekeeper and jammer ref. We were so busy coordinating who saw what and when the penalty girls got out that we had no idea the entire arena was waiting on us until we reported the official score and looked up to see the final was 54 to 53. I'm still amazed we managed to live through that night.

Bad Habit: I can be a little too perfectionist
Derby Heroes: Changes every game. Roxy's energy, Princess America's sportsmanship, Shirley Temper's dedication, and if I don't stop I'll end up naming every skater. What I like best is seeing a skater develop and become highly effective, or seeing a skater who'd seemed to have peaked break through and get even better.
Inspiration For Name: I had been considering "The Mathemagician" (from the Phantom Tollbooth) but during a brainstorming session the name "tally-ho" came up and that was that. It's just too appropriate in every way.
