Derby Diary
Joined CRG: January 2005
Debut: Debutante Brawlers vs. Trauma Queens (April 2005)
Teams Played For: Tai Chi-tahs, Carolina All-Stars, Debutante Brawlers
Favorite Opponent: I loved playing Detroit at ECE. They were so excited and willing and ready to soak up everything they could from the experience. Then they came back to almost beat us at Regionals! And they have the best mean fans ever! Also loved playing Big Easy...awesome girls and amazing hostesses. It is always an honor and a priviledge to play the Texecutioners. I love love love playing with or against my sister and her league, the Dominion Derby Girls.
Favorite Location: Raleigh's own Dorton Arena. It was made for derby!
Favorite Surface: American concrete
Why I Became Involved: Just seemed like the only right and good thing to. Always wanted to play a contact sport and always loved to skate...derby was the perfect combo!
Why I Skate: I enjoy using the gifts god has given me to roll around as fast as I can
Embarrasing Moment: Anytime I've lost my cool and said or done ugly things, anytime I've vehemently attempted to call of the jam when I was not lead jammer!
Favorite Fresh Meat Moment: When I ran into the wall at one of my first bouts and accidentally ripped down the USARS (our insurance) banner
Favorite Derby Memory: There are so many...beginning to realize that we just might have a chance to beat the #2 ranked Tucson at Nationals, and then beating them, was a feeling I'll never forget. Also, when I found out my sister, Duchess America, was going to try out of the Dominion Derby Girls.
Likes: Lovers, hard work, sweetness, positivity, clean play, beating the odds, fringe
Dislikes: Haters, negativity, dirty play, reffing on the track
Bad Habit: Lateness, forgetting my mouthguard and having to share with my teammates!
Derby Heroes: Duchess America!!! Celia Fate, Denise Lightning, Betty Rumble
Inspiration For Name: Ralph O'Ree suggested my name after I found out that Mary Lou Threaten had already been taken but I'd already bought lots of red, white, and blue gear. Right then I knew I was, had always been, and always will be Princess America.
Food Before A Bout: Peanut butter on wheat, non-dairy smoothies, bananas, weird combination of power bars and gels and I really overdo it
