Why I Became Involved: Since the birth of my son, I haven't done anything for myself.
Why I Skate: It's better than underwater basket weaving.
Embarrasing Moment: Probably when I got caught not only on tape, but now on film (Greatest Hits) pulling a flying tackle on Eris. I don't embarrass easily…no shame.
Favorite Fresh Meat Moment: Sorry, ladies. I joined in mid July, and was a Brawler 27 days later. Not long enough to really make a memory. EXCEPT that I was held back from playing my first bout in October because I failed the rules test…not once, but twice! I guess you can consider that fresh meat?
Favorite Derby Memory: Dust Devil 2006
Likes: The idea that women of all walks of life can come together with a common goal and make it work. That a handful of ladies had a dream and are making it reality. That one person had what it took, and the faith in herself, to bring something as hokey as roller derby all the way from Texas to the East Coast and make it spread like an infection. That this is still very much a grassroots, non-profit endeavor, but people actually think we get paid. That this is probably the only full-contact sport in American history where any woman, no matter what shape, size, weight, religion, or color, can play and be successful. And most importantly…I'll shut up after this one…proof that we are NOT ALL part of the "weaker" sex. pfft.
Dislikes: Obnoxiously long, largely ineffective meetings. Oh yeah…and skaters that are obviously only here for a fashion and publicity show. Thank goodness they are getting weeded out!
Bad Habit: um...*cough*...smoking, cussing, and *insert whiny voice here* being inconsiderate of other people's feelings. (I just think the rest of the world is too sensitive)
Derby Heroes: Celia Fate for being the baddest entrepreneur EVER, and Denise Lightening of AZRD for just being a badass.
Inspiration For Name: Okay…I thought it was pretty self-explanatory. For those few that may not get it, there was a fantastic punk rock band called The Misfits, and also I'm prone to being abrasive and having sudden outbursts of rage, both sarcastic and sincere. So Ms. Fit seemed quite appropriate on many levels. It certainly has nothing to do with physical wellness! I mean…I'm not coming to practice in my headband and leg warmers, singing Olivia Newton John for crissake!
Food Before A Bout: Whatever's easy…I don't have quirky food superstitions, and I think it's brutally obvious that I'm not a health nut.
